Hangovers Bite Back

HURLEY'S COURT, JERSEY CITY, NJ -- In a marquee Sunday Night matchup, The Alligators got off to a sloppy start, falling in and out of rhythm, something we are not used to seeing. Probably Hungover came out hungry for a win, played strong and it showed.

The Alligators were missing too many shots at the rim and their lead eventually slipped away. Probably Hungover led at halftime 30-24 with Jason Scherr stepping up to lead all scorers with 9 points.

In the second half, the Alligators found themselves down by as many as 8. Very unusual to watch this team play catchup because they are known to explode offensively.

Probably Hungover slowed down a bit and lost some momentum, allowing the Alligators to go on a run and take the lead back with 5 minutes remaining. The rest of the half saw both teams hustling and playing fast while the score was neck and neck.

Probably Hungover ended up dominating on defense and gave Alligators their first loss of the season 61-57.

Alligators James Kaminek finished with 15 points, 2 steals and 3 rebounds and Brett Bially contributed 16 points, 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Probably Hungover’s Jason Scherr dropped 16 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 6 rebounds and 1 block while Oliver Kaljuvee contributed 13 points, 1 assist and 4 rebounds.

1st Place for the Grove

HURLEY'S COURT, JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Grove Street started the game red hot from the field and full of energy. Vipers on the other hand were playing much too lax on offense and did not guard the 3-point line well. We all know Grove Street loves to shoot that 3 ball.

Vipers were down by as many as 9, but went on a run to bring the game within 3 points. Grove Street finished the last 2 minutes of the half strong and led 33-25. Viper’s Will Kales led all scorers with 12 points.

In the second half, the Vipers came back with venom. Grove Street’s offense began to struggle and before you know it both teams are battling, hustling, running and fighting. Grove Street made some crucial plays down the stretch forcing the Vipers to play the foul game.

With two important Vipers fouling out, Grove Street (5-2) won 51-45 and are in 1st place.

Will Kales scored a total 24 points, 1 assist, and 7 rebounds with the help of Gabe Robinson who added 11 points, 12 rebounds and 1 steal. Grove Street’s Darien Rodriguez had a solid game with 21 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and 14 rebounds and David Sison added 13 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds.

The Best Offense is a Great Defense

Hitting a Home run in baseball is awesome. But if you go up to the plate looking to do it every time, you are more than likely going to strike out more often than hitting the home run. Same goes for Shuffleboard. Rule Number One in Shuffleboard: Keep it on the board. It may only be a one pointer, or hey, maybe no points at all. But Keeping it on the board and short will at least create an obstacle for your opponent. Let them try and go deeper and if they go off the board, try and throw yours behind the first one. Now you have hidden your puck behind your first one!

Can’t hide it? Well then try putting your second one to the right or left of your your first. Now you have two shallow pucks on the board and have taken away most of the board from your opponent. Just try not to put your second one too close to your first or your opponent might take both of them off with one great shot!
