Epic winter season ready to take flight

ABL's Winter Shuffleboard League is back!

If you're looking for something to do this cold winter season, playing the old-time bar game of Shuffleboard is a great way to warm up with an adult beverage, revel in the camaraderie, and compete against other teams from around the neighborhood.

The league plays from Feb - April (18-game schedule), and if your team makes the playoffs, you'll be seeded in a single-elimination tournament for the chance to drink victory from the Lord Shufflepuck Cup! So, are you ready to embark on this great season, to go beer for beer and puck for puck vs. your division opponents?

Please register now to secure your spot. A schedule will be posted by February 1st.

Puck Dynasty & If the Puck Fits Advance

HOBOKEN, NJ -- Last night in Hoboken, we were witness to what could be the crumbling end to two dynasties. The former Lord Shufflepuck Champions, Cool Hand Luke and The Mighty Pucks, were upended in the 1st round of the playoffs by Puck Dynasty and If The Puck Fits, respectively.

In a wild Best of 5 Series, CHL attempted a comeback, but they were thwarted in Game 5. They lost the first two games 21-10 and 21-17, won the next two 21-14 and 21-15, but couldn't keep the momentum going and lost the final game 21-11, and now must lay down to bleed awhile.

Captain Zachary Balog summed things up:

"We definitely started the first game off and got beat handsomely. We rallied once the booze started to take effect. I definitely play better once I started my second beer. It was like Neo in the Matrix when he can see stuff in slow motion--beer has that effect. It's awesome. Going into game five we had all the momentum, but they played a tough match and took an early jump with a few big point rounds. We got too far in the hole to recover. It was like 17-4 and we were trying to battle back. Once you chop a team's leg off, you just lean on them. Simple strategy.

It was a good season. Lots of ups and downs. We played a lot of different guys, which was fun. Good times."

In the other playoff series, the Mighty Pucks, once a championship dynasty, got swept away by If The Puck Fits. They lost 21-12, 21-18, 21-11.

So now we have two new teams in the Semi's - can either Puck Dynasty or If The Puck Fits continue their magic and make it to the big kahuna?

We'll see how things shape up this week - stay tuned to the website and the league Facebook page for updates.
