Bada Bing completes the dream season

JERSEY SHORE -- Bada Bing capped off their dream season Tuesday night with a two game sweep of the Misfits

For Bada Bing's slugging shortstop Vic, who earned Player of the Night honors, Game One was a numbers game: 3- at-bats and runs scored. 2- walks and runs batted in. 1- swing, 1 home run.

Starting pitcher Joe would also add a long ball, but the story of this game was defense and pitching. Joe pounded the strike zone all night and the gloves had his back. This was a vintage Bada Bing effort. Diving catches and rally ending double plays frustrated the Misfits in game one and when the dust cleared it was a scrappy 6-2 win for red.

With their backs against the wall, the Misfits called a team meeting to regroup and get their heads straight. First baseman Eric led the charge with a 3-4 3RBI night and got the defending champs to a 4-2 lead after 4.

Bada Bing scraped one across in the 5th and one more in the 6th. That would set up a 7th inning that will be remembered for completing the championship narrative.

The stage was set for Bada Bing, the heart of the lineup and the soul of the team was coming to bat. Kat led off with a line drive single and Joe followed with a walk. With the go ahead run in scoring position the one batter the Misfits did not want to see started to dig in. Momentum has clearly swung to the side of Bada Bing and with the first pitch he saw, Vic hit a missile to center that rang off the fence and plated two. Bri followed up with a RBI and Bada Bing was 3 outs away with a 3 run lead.

The Misfits were able to mount a semi rally and got one across in the bottom, but when Kat squeezed the final out and threw her hands in the air, the goal was achieved. Mission accomplished. The championship was won.

Bada Bing was the best team all season. They play the game hard and fair, always show good sportsmanship and have a loyal fan base. Congratulations to them on a well deserved championship and good luck defending in the fall. The bulls eye will now be placed squarely on your backs.

We'll see everyone in the fall!
