Pitching, Defense Shine at the Shore

LAST WEEK -- Week 2 at the Jersey Shore brought the heat. With temps and humidity levels approaching triple digits, no team was hotter than Your Mas Your Da

The crew from Langosta Lounge was straight fire Tuesday, handing Bada Bing their first loss since May. Locked in an epic pitchers duel, Yourmas’ Shortstop and Player of the Week James (2-3, HR) hit a bomb over the left center field fence in the 5th inning. That swing may have only scored one run, on paper. But what it did for the feeling at the Park was visceral. Drago was cut. And it was a bad cut. Bada Bing for the first time in a very long time was not in control of the matchup.

Bing shortstop Vic answered the bell with a dinger of his own in the top of the 6th, but Yourmas defense including James’ run saving line drive snag later that inning would just not break, only allowing 6 hits- an all time team low for the defending champs.

Yourmas leadoff hitter and speedster Danny (3-4, 2R, 2RBI) showed off his pop in the bottom of the 6th when he cleared the fence and tied a bow on the 6-2 upset.

In other games.....

Eric went 4-4 and JT drove in 2 runs leading the 2-0 Misfits to a 6-1 victory over the Backyard Brew Crew. The BBC made some serious strides this week defensively and looks ready to take the next step. They will get their shot next week when they play 2-0 Bond St, fresh off a 13-3 victory over the Aaskickers.

The Hot Behinds also raise their record to 2-0 after defeating the Clown Punchers 10-3. Yac had a nice night for the HB, scoring twice on 3 hits. In addition to driving in a pair, pitcher Frank only allowed one walk and has planted himself squarely in the middle of any Pitcher of the Year talk. Tom had 3 hits for the Clown Punchers as they also look like they are getting closer to finding which pieces fit in the right spot.

Overall, the balance of power appears to becoming more balanced this fall season. It’s setting up for a highly competitive and exciting chase for the pennant.
