Big Splash, Tigers 3-0, Nice View

The Patrick Ewing division is shaping up nicely and with the addition of a very strong 'The View' team, it looks like the playoff run is going to be highly competitive and 'edge of your seat' exciting.

No team represents the ultra-entertaining new age brand of basketball like the crew from Splash Bandicoot. These boys will let it fly from anywhere at anytime. They locked horns with the short handed Supersonics Sunday night and the game was an instant classic.

The Sonics used their size and power to slow the pace and pound the SB. Jon Pelka led the way with a 20 point, 14 rebound, 7 assist effort. Billy Weimmer added 17/7/7 and Halvor Egeland went for 11/8/8.

But it wasn’t enough to keep pace. Splash put the pedal to the metal in the second half and wore the Sonics out. Tyler Roshala was lightning with his 19 points, including 3 straight triples in the first half. And Player of the Week Doug Boor was thunder, scoring 15 of his game high 21 in the second half to go along with 13 rebounds.

The 59-55 win gives Splash a slight advantage in the standings, but more importantly sets the stage for the St Patricks day rematch.

In the evening's second game, Padraic Brady scored 36 points for the Scorpions including 5 triples. It was not enough however, Jermaine Jackson’s 25 and Andrey Bonellis' 23 and 8 helped the Tigers secure the 68-54 victory and puts them alone in first place at 3-0. They will face a tall order Sunday when the meet up with the Sonics in the early game.

The nightcap featured the aforementioned View crew. Their debut in the league was a smashing success. A 61-54 win featured three players (Pitts 18, Meredith 16, Bock 13) in double digits. The story of this one though, was the backcourt defense of Mel Pitts (5 steals) and Brandon Bock (4 steals). They smothered the Flint Attack. The loss drops the Tropics to 0-3 but they have played much better than their record would indicate. They look to get it going when they face the Scorpions in the middle game. The View will get a stiff test from Splash Bandicoot in the nightcap in what should be a fast paced shooting spree.

As teams start to gel and build chemistry, the division is only going to get tougher. The race for the league MVP is also heating up with a couple of new contenders throwing their hats in the ring.
