Burnett's 16 pts, Rosario's 13 Boards lead team

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Scrappy SZN has been on a winning streak and looked to continue that while keeping JC Tropic on their losing streak. Both teams played solid defense and communicated well. Scrappy SZN is known for going on runs throughout a game and tonight was no different. Didn’t take long for them to go on a quick 8-0 spurt, but JC Tropics were able to stay close and not let the game get too far away.

Scrappy SZN is also known for running a lot of their offense through big man Vic Rosario, but JC Tropics gave him some trouble. They were tough on him on defense, especially Brian Young and didn’t allow him to get his usual offensive rebounds and put-backs. Young had 11 rebounds in the game.

Scrappy SZN’s Antonio Burnett II scored the team’s final 7 points of the half to give them a 7 point lead going into halftime 26-19. Antonio led the team with 12 points and Brandon Renkart led JC Tropics with 8 points.

The second half displayed the same energy from both teams, but JC Tropics had a few bad turnovers, which led to offensive opportunities for Scrappy SZN. One thing you can’t do is turn the ball over against this team because they will make you pay. JC Tropics just couldn’t find a rhythm and started letting the game slip away. Scrappy SZN went on a 17-4 run creating a 23- point lead, the largest of the game. They had great ball-movement, chemistry and all the momentum. Through JC Tropic’s frustration they were able to go on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 13, but never any closer than that. Scrappy SZN finished strong securing not only their 4th straight win, but their fourth straight mercy win with a 57-36 final score.

JC Tropic’s Brandon Renkart finished with 14 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 6 rebounds and 1 block. He was the only player on the team in double-figures and behind him was Zac Kozak with 7 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Scrappy SZN’s Antonio Burnett II finished with 16 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 6 rebounds, Vic Rosario still put up an impressive game with 8 points, 1 assist, 2 steals, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Connor Rimbroush added 8 points, 2 assists, 4 steals and 8 rebounds.
