Jersey City – Scrappy SZN are starting to make their case as championship contenders with their second win in a row against a struggling Alligators team. Both teams like to play fast, so it was no surprise to see this one at break-neck speed.  Both teams were up and down the court after quick shots and fast breaks. The game started close, but Alligators began to get sloppy with the ball and had too many missed layups, a costly combo. Scrappy SZN's defense played a big role in their opponent's miscues, while Alligators offensive struggles carried over to their defense. Scrappy SZN’s 3-point shot wasn’t falling, so they switched their game plan to play through Vic Rosario, who showed just how hard he is to stop. Neither team was playing their best this half though, and the turnovers mounted on both sides. Scrappy SZN led at the break by a score of 26-19, with Vic Rosario and Brett Bially of Alligators both having 8 points apiece each to lead their teams. At this point, it was anyone’s game and someone would need to set up in the second half.

The second half was showtime for Scrappy SZN. Their offense and defense were unstoppable. They got the stops they needed and converted their opportunities at the other end of the floor, pushing their lead to 25 points. Alligators got great looks all night but could not hit their open shots from nearly anywhere on the court. They desperately needed at least one player to get hot, but Scrappy SZN ran circles around them. Scrappy SZN out-rebounded Alligators 50-27, hit a few 3’s, and dominated in the paint. They went on to win via mercy rule by a score of 63-40. Alligators Brett Bially finished the night with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist while teammate Brett Lederer added 11 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds. For Scrappy SZN, Antonio Burnett II put together an amazing game, posting 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals, and had 8 of the team’s 9 assists. Johan Sanks was big as well, with 8 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block. Vic Rosario posted a game high 18 points with 6 rebounds and 1 block.
