Jersey City – The Ballpark Bulldawgs were in search of their first win while opponent JC Tropics were aiming to start a win streak. Ballpark Bulldawgs didn’t get off to the greatest start with only 4 players for the first 12 minutes of the game. However, JC Tropics were unable to take advantage, enduring a slow start of their own on the offensive end of the court. Ballpark Bulldawgs just could not make a shot, while JC Tropics took and missed numerous 3-point attempts. Even so, JC tropics were able to establish a 13-3 lead. Once Ballpark Bulldawgs were able to put a full team on the court, they got into a much better rhythm offensively thanks to Vincent Gazzani and Jamal Williams. They were able to bring the team back and cut the deficit to just 3 points. JC Tropics were great on the glass and rebounded well, but too much dribbling at times led to turnovers. They were still able to finish the half strong though, and took a 24-15 lead into the break. The team was led by Brandon Renkart’s 11 points. For Ballpark Bulldawgs, Vincent Gazzani scored 10 of the team’s 15 points.

It was a complete turnaround in the second half for Ballpark Bulldawgs. Right out of the break, they went on a 19-0 run to establish their first lead of the game. JC Tropics couldn’t buy a basket and resorted to taking bad 3-point attempts. It took them over 9 minutes to make their first field goal of the second half. They looked out of sync and no one seemed to be able to get hot from the field. It would, however, turn into a crazy back and forth game. Once JC Tropics saw the ball go through the basket, they didn’t stop. A 17-0 run ensued to cut the Ballpark Bulldawgs lead to two points. After tying the game with 5 minutes remaining, it was Ballpark Bulldawgs' turn to struggle on offense. They wouldn’t score again until their was just 30 seconds left in the game. Down 3 points, Jamal Williams went for the tie but missed. JC Tropics closed the game for a 41-38 victory. JC Tropics big three were Brandon Renkart with 17 points, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds, Casey Kauffmann posting 9 points and 9 rebounds, and Zac Kozak, who brought the team back and finished with a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds, tacking on 4 assists and 1 block.
