LAKE COMO, NJ -- Opening night of the 2019 ABL Winter Hoops League at the Jersey Shore featured two exciting and highly competitive games.
In the opener, the SuperSonics sent a message to the league. Led by their big man, Jon Pelka (24 pts, 12rebs) and sharpshooter Alex Levchenko (25 pts, 5 3s), the Sonics cruised to a 82-51 victory over the scrappy Flint Tropics.
Game 2 featured the early favorite for league MVP, Jermaine Jackson of the Tigers. Jackson poured in 39 points and with Rod Carter (11 rebounds, 6 asst) snagging boards and leading the fast break, the Splash Bandicoot crew had no answers defensively. The Splash have a balanced attack offensively and got scores from 7 different players but in the end could not keep pace with the Tigers and it was a 65-51 final.
In week 2, the Tigers will take on the Flint Tropics in the opener. Game 2 will feature Splash Bandicoot and our first look this season at the Scorpions. It should make for an exciting evening of hoops!
