LATERRI PARK, CLIFTON, NJ -- The Punishers and Warriors faced off in the ABL Men's Fall League last Sunday, and both teams fought hard with the playoffs on the horizon.
Game 1 was a shoot-out! Who had the under of 40 combined runs? If you did, you were wrong! The Warriors squeaked out a 2-run win by the final score of 24-22.
The Warriors brought their bats, courtesy of Rizzo, Pete & Franco who all contributed Home Runs. Steve & Danny G combined for a total of 10 RBIs & each led the team with 5. Danny M. showed up late with a nice red blouse to go 3 for 3 at the bottom of the lineup. Ok ok, it wasn't a blouse, but a small torn tee shirt. These things happen in flag football, at least that is what we are all told:).
The Punishers gave the Warriors all they had & you would think 22 runs would have been enough. Ant & Jon contributed homers. Everyone in the lineup scored at least 1 run, led by Ant with 4. Pops entertained the crowd with his puzzling pitching style! Even the umpire Joe had a chuckle.
Game 1 Final
Warriors - 24
Punishers - 22
The Warriors had their chance to become sole 1st place leaders of the Rickey Henderson division, but the Punishers had other ideas! Speedster Erwin had 3 runs scored. Christian & DRock added a combined 5 RBIS at the bottom of the lineup. Boobie lost his a cool for a bit on a grounder that he thought he had beat out. It was close, too close for even me to see. All part of the game. The Warriors took the Punishers lightly in Game 2 & paid for it by losing by 4.
Final Score Game 2:
Punishers - 14
Warriors - 10
