For the first time in a month, softball was played at Bert Willis field Tuesday night.
With Dave C homering in each game, The Hot Behinds swept both ends of their doubleheader in impressive fashion. In game one ,pitching and defense were the story. The HB blanked the Backyard Brew Crew 3-0.
In game 2, Your Mas Your Da managed to squeak 4 runs across, but the Hot Behinds relentless offense scored in 5 of 6 turns at bat and won easily 7-4. The win took the Behinds to 4-0 and into first place by themselves with just 3 weeks left in the season. They look to go to 5-0 when they take on Bond St next.
The upstart Clown Punchers got their first win with an impressive 10-0 drubbing of the Aaskickers. The Clown Punchers will get another crack at Bada Bing. Back on September 4th those two locked up in a 5-5 tie.
Speaking of kissing your sister, defending champions Bada Bing are doing their best Cleveland Browns impersonation. They played to their second tie in a row. This tie was a 6-6 game that came down to final at bat. Trailing by 2 and down to their last out, clutch hits by Vic, Kai and Andrew knotted this one up. It brought the Bing record to a pedestrian 1-1-2 and makes this week’s matchup with Clown Punchers very important as they jockey for positioning down the playoff stretch run.
The Misfits fall a half game out of first with the tie and have a tough matchup with Your Mas this week.
The first game Tuesday will be the ‘somethings gotta give matchup’. The 0-4 Aaskickers will host the 0-4 Backyard Brew Crew. Both teams have scored exactly 6 runs each in their four games. Plenty of good seats still available for this one.
The stage is set for an exciting second half of the season. All we need is Mother Nature to cooperate and let the play on the field tell the story.
