Grove Street starts season 0-1

HURLEY'S COURT, JERSEY CITY, NJ -- It’s opening night and Probably Hungover had zero concern that they were facing the defending champs Grove Street.

A team known for taking and making a lot of 3’s struggled to knock them down and had numerous good looks. Probably Hungover played physical and scored most of their points in the paint. This worked great against Grove Street due to the mismatches and Probably Hungover, being a bigger team, forced Grove Street to foul too often.

Grove Street needed to regroup considering they were down by 14 points halfway through the first and were in a scoring drought for over 6 minutes. Probably Hungover took them out of their game, but Grove Street was able to go on a run led by Darien Rodriguez’s 9 points to go into halftime only trailing 28-21. Probably Hungover was led by Rich Nolin who had 8 points.

Grove Street’s poor shooting continued, especially behind the 3-point line in the second half, and found themselves back in a double-digit deficit after coming within 5. Meanwhile, everything was going right for Probably Hungover as Oliver Kaljuvee exploded offensively.

The game got more physical and intense, including a double technical being handed out. Grove Street then went on another run in the last few minutes, stemming from a pair of crucial 3’s at the hands of Darien Rodriguez who finished the game with 25 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 5 rebounds.

Unfortunately, Grove Street couldn’t find a way to get in front. Probably Hungover controlled the game from start to finish, winning 53-43 behind Olive Kaljuvee’s 18 points, 1 steal and 4 rebounds. An impressive victory!
