Langosta’s Incredible Run Comes to an End

In the first semi final matchup it was perennial powerhouse the Misfits hosting the upstart crew from Langosta.

After a scoreless first, it was the Misfits slugging first baseman and player of the game Eric (3-4, 2R, RBI) who singled to right to start the bottom of the second and start the rally. A hit from Michelle followed and a couple of walks later it was 5-0 Misfits and it looked like Langosta’s run was about to come to an end.

It wasn’t until there were 2 outs in the top of the 5th when a flyball to left was misjudged and opened the flood gates. Langosta would put up 3 in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th to tie the game. Bert Willis Park was buzzing and the smell of upset was in the air.

The Misfits answered right back in the bottom of the 6th to regain the lead. But again, Langosta answered in the top of the 7th. With a couple on and threatening to blow the game open, Bri hit what looked like a harmless pop up that was destined to roll foul when Misfits ace JT hopped off the mound, snagged the catch and turned and fired a seed to second, doubling off the runner and ending the rally. The heads up play of the year candidate saved the Misfits season. Carmine drew a lead off walk in the bottom of the 7th, advanced to second and scored all the way from 2nd base on a sac fly from Eric to win the game and advanced them to next weeks championship game.  It was a signature Misfits win- total team effort.
