CENTURY PARK, GARFIELD, NJ -- With temperatures hovering around 95 degrees, the veteran softball teams Tainos and Adrenaline Rush met for a Sunday double-dip at Garfield's Century Park.
The heat didn't seem to bother the Adrenaline Rush in Game 1. Ad Rush has played Tainos 12+ times over the past couple of seasons & were winless coming into today! Was it the heat? July 4th weekend? Whatever it was, Kevin pitched a great game, only allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, while Ad Rush's bats were outstanding, finding the holes in a field that doesn't carry the ball well.
Three players tied for the lead in RBI's with 3 apiece; Craig, Joe S & Steve! Several players batted 1.000 (Mike, Tyrell, & Steve). Things got heated when Jon popped out with bases loaded, kicking over a garbage can! (He was given a verbal warning). However, more importantly, Ad Rush not only beat Tainos, but beat them by 13 after 4 innings? WOW! A Let-down game for Tainos!
Final Game 1:
Ad Rush - 17
Tainos - 4
In Game 2, the tables were turned! Tainos brought their bats, scoring 15 runs. Carmine rocked a 2 Run Homer, Sims went 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored. Ray contributed 2 extra base hits. Slim had 2 RBI's off of 3 hits. Bud had 3 RBI's! The 1st 5 batters scored 12 of the 15 runs!
Ad Rush had their shot to keep this a game in the 4th, but John popped out with bases juiced (no garbage cans this time!). Ad Rush is basically a .500 Team, they win, they lose, they crush someone, then they shoot themselves in the foot! Very difficult to figure them out!
Tainos (12-6) is still chasing Waka Cooper (14-4) for the Pete Rose division. Watch OUT!! Muy Buen!
