Will Meet the 7-2 Vipers for the Championship

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- PLAYOFFS -- HURLEY'S COURT -- Probably Hungover, the wily veterans of the ABL Basketball League, snuck their way into the final playoff spot having to go up against the top seeded Grove Street.

Both teams started strong and were getting good shots. Grove Street’s defense was beautiful, forcing Probably Hungover to take a lot of contested shots. Grove Street had an early 15-point lead and it was not looking too good for Probably Hungover as their top offensive player, Oliver Kaljuvee, was held scoreless in the 1st half (5 in the game). Who else was going to step up?Probably Hungover also seemed to be allergic to layups, given how many they missed. Grove Street held a comfortable 33-20 lead at halftime with Carlos Torrejon leading all scorers with 11 points.

Probably Hungover played a lot more aggressive in the second half, yet Grove Street still held a double-digit lead. With Oliver ice cold from the field, Jason Scherr took over for Probably Hungover. It was his stellar defense that kept his team close as he forced multiple turnovers and brought the lead down to only 5. But Grove Street wasn’t too worried, and their offense skyrocketed in the final minutes to pull away and send Probably Hungover packing.

Grove Street (7-2) won the game 56-44 and will advance to play in the championship game against the Vipers (7-2). Jason Scherr finished the game with 12 points, 1 assist, 6 steals, 7 rebounds and 1 block along with Ben Carr who added 13 points. Grove Street’s Darien Rodriguez scored 18 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 rebounds, Tim Rench added 10 points, 15 rebounds and 2 steals and Carlos Torrejon recorded 14 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block.
