REESE FIELD, BOGOTA, NJ -- Mothers Love Balls... Deep?  Happy Mama's Day to all!

What a way to celebrate this holiday with "Balls Deep" getting their 1st two wins of the season.  They absolutely smoked the Expos today!  They scored 43 runs combined in both games & held the Expos to 10!  WOW.

Each player scored at least 1 run in game one for Balls Deep.  Bryce led the team with 4 runs scored.  Rudy was late arriving & was therefore batting last & still led the squad with 6 RBI's!  Impressive!  He was the only player to hit a Homer as well! The Expos struggled at the mound, walking 10 batters, you just can't do that in Softball.  It was funny listening, yes listening to Bryce at the plate.  Every time a ball sailed outside off the corner of the plate, you could literally hear Bryce "grunt" as if he really wanted that one!  Funny stuff!

Game 1 Final
Balls Deep 25
Expos 4

Game 2 was more of the same.  The Expos showed some signs of life at the top of the 1st scoring 4 runs right out of the gate!  Frank Guzman found his control only walking 1 guy as opposed to 10 in Game 1.

Still, this was Balls Deep's Day.  They plated 13 in the 2nd inning.  Rudy again led the team in RBI's with 5! Kudos to Ty & Cisco going 6 for 6 combined, 6 runs scored!  Pitcher Jeremy was solid, allowing only 6 in this one, (4 in game 1).

Congrats to Balls Deep for getting into the Win Column!!  Happy Mothers Day to all!

Final Score Game 2:
Balls Deep 18
Expos 6

With the doubleheader sweep, Balls Deep (2-6) find themselves only 2.5 games out of a playoff spot in the Ken Singleton Division. The Expos, meanwhile, drop to 2-4 and remain just 1 game out of a playoff berth in the Johnny Bench Division. But the season is early, and anything can happen.

Men's League Update

In other games around the ABL...

Waka/Cooper Place (7-3) blasted Taino's 33-21, 28-8 and move into 2nd place in the Pete Rose Division.

Punishers move to 3-5 in the Bill Madlock Division by whipping the West New York PD 12-0, 29-9

Young Bucs edged the Bad Hombres 18-14, 24-18 and have the best record in the entire Men's League at 8-0.

Multiple Scoregasms (6-2) overwhelmed La Familia 18-5, 21-9 and are in 2nd place behind undefeated RedRum Sports (6-0).

Summer League Announced

The ABL will be hosting a Summer Men's 'Mini-League' starting in mid-June. All games will be played in Hudson County (Hoboken area).

The Summer Mini-League is a 7-game season (1 game per week) and game nights are Sunday, Monday or Thursday. The rules are similar to the current Men's League, but only 9 players take the field and each team can bat up to 13 in the order (4 Extra Hitters). Also, we are using a Clincher Softball.

We have limited spots, so if you plan on entering a team, please register before June 1st. We are also running a Coed Mini-Summer Season in Bergen/Passaic on weeknights.

For info on the Men's or Coed Summer Mini-League, please contact director Jim Pilla at pilla32@gmail.com.
