HURLEY'S COURT, JERSEY CITY, NJ -- Grove Street started the game red hot from the field and full of energy. Vipers on the other hand were playing much too lax on offense and did not guard the 3-point line well. We all know Grove Street loves to shoot that 3 ball.
Vipers were down by as many as 9, but went on a run to bring the game within 3 points. Grove Street finished the last 2 minutes of the half strong and led 33-25. Viper’s Will Kales led all scorers with 12 points.
In the second half, the Vipers came back with venom. Grove Street’s offense began to struggle and before you know it both teams are battling, hustling, running and fighting. Grove Street made some crucial plays down the stretch forcing the Vipers to play the foul game.
With two important Vipers fouling out, Grove Street (5-2) won 51-45 and are in 1st place.
Will Kales scored a total 24 points, 1 assist, and 7 rebounds with the help of Gabe Robinson who added 11 points, 12 rebounds and 1 steal. Grove Street’s Darien Rodriguez had a solid game with 21 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and 14 rebounds and David Sison added 13 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 rebounds.
