On a blustery Tuesday evening at Bert Willis field, there were a lot of familiar faces swinging red hot bats.
In our first game, the Backyard Brew Crew led by leadoff igniter Mike Mulroy (3-4, 2R) and Jason Ross (2-3, 3RBI) handed the Asbury Slammers a warm welcome to the Jersey Shore League in the form of a 17-2 loss.
At the same time on field 2, Bond St is back in Black and looking to build on the momentum of last summer. Dime Dave delivered a 3-3, 5 RBI night and kicked the Aaski Kickers aaskis 11-1.
The bad boys of Bert Willis, the Misfits look to be in mid season form already. They ran Make it a Double out of the gym with an easy 12-2 win. Chris (4-4), Tommy (3-3) and JT (3-3, 6IP,2R) led the way. Their signature aggressive base running looks poised to lead them to another championship run.
The team that looks primed to take the next step is Bada Bing. They saved the fireworks for the nightcap. Kat (5-5, 5R) set the table and the big bombers in the middle of the order delivered. Vic (4-4, 6 RBI) sent the first moon shot into the night sky. Joe (3-4, 4RBI) would not be outdone. He added a bomb of his own in addition to hurling 3 hit ball and getting the 21-0 victory.
With 10 teams in the Catfish Hunter Division, this spring season is shaping up to be the best yet at the Shore.
