Mutants streak into Playoffs

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- The New Mutants are certainly showing they are ready for the playoffs as they dominated the offensive powerhouse Alligators.

In this division matchup, both teams were known for their fast pace and execution, but this game was more of a shock as the Alligators got blown out. Alligators started the game off strong on a 7-0 run, taking advantage of the New Mutants struggle to score and keep pace with the high tempo flow of the game.

It seemed like New Mutants were just getting warmed up. They stepped up their defense, got a few steals and went on a run of their own. Alligators were thrown off their game and had way too many turnovers. As a result, they were down at halftime 27-24 and would not take the lead again in the game. New Mutant’s Will Kales led all scorers with 13 points.

In the second half, New Mutants had all the momentum pushing their lead to 11, while the Alligators continued playing unusually bad. The team wasn’t in rhythm offensively and couldn’t slow the ball down on the other end.

New Mutants put on a great performance, and what a way to end the regular season, capping off a 5-game winning streak.

Alligator’s Alex Bially was the only player in double figures with 16 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, 3 rebounds and 1 block.

Three players from New Mutants scored in double digits. Gabe Robinson had a double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block, Ira Fabian added 17 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 6 rebounds and Will Kales led everyone with 23 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 6 rebounds and 1 block. They beat Alligators 64-46.
