Jersey City, NJ - Last Tuesday night, a mid-season matchup between the Wolfpack and Chubb was all about the defense. It was a low-scoring game, however the pace was furious, with multiple lead changes throughout.
Chubb’s Drew Leatherman had the hot hand as the rest of his team struggled to score. He had 13 points in the first half including three 3-pointers. Wolfpack’s Josh Heyer led his team with 7 points and they had the lead at the half, 19-17.
Chubb underperformed throughout the game, but a lot of it had to do with the Wolfpack's size advantage, which overpowered them and prevented anyone from scoring in the paint. Even so, the game stayed close and was tied until Chubb went on a 7-0 run for the largest lead of the night. But the Wolfpack took back the momentum and went on an 11-0 run to end the game, leaving Chubb scoreless for the final few minutes.
Drew Leatherman wrapped up with 17 points, 2 assists, 4 steals and 9 rebounds. Wolfpack’s Josh Heyer finished with 13 points, 1 assist, 4 steals and 2 rebounds. He was the team’s only player in double figures in the Wolfpack's 41-37 win over Chubb.
The Wolfpack move to 5-1, while Chubb sits on the bubble at 4-3.
