HURLEY'S COURT, JERSEY CITY, NJ -- The Anytime Bail Bonds Ballers have claimed several division championships over the years. But with rivals Ball Don't Lie (3-3) and Goodfellas (5-0) playing solid ball this year, there were questions as to how ABB would handle the pressure.
On Sunday, the questions were answered, as the ABB Ballers (4-1) took hold of 2nd place in the Russell Westbrook Division by defeating Ball Don't Lie 60-45.
The game was tied after the 1st half at 25, a real slug fest! However, the Bail Bonds Ballers quickly changed their defensive strategy, basically surrounding Ball Don't Lie's star player D. Brossman and preventing him from taking any shots. Not a bad idea considering he had 16 Points in the 1st half (4 three pointers). Slowing down Brossman worked as he added only 8 points in the 2nd half. (Still an impressive 24 points to lead his squad).
Ball Don't Lie's Big Man Simon was a beast inside with 12 points, but got into foul trouble & eventually fouled out with about 2 minutes left in the game.
The Anytime Bail Bonds Ballers put on an overall strong performance. Buck Nasty entertained in the paint & his loud demeanor! He finished with 15 points & 5 boards. Robert Cheeks had a double/double with 12 points & 10 boards! Stephen M. was strong all game! He had 13 points, 4 assists & led both teams in steals with 3. Robert Bates drained 3 Three Pointers. This team will be tough to beat with their defense & size.
Watch out Good Fellas!
