Green & Jackson steal the show

Jersey City, NJ -- What a competitive game between Goodfellas and Ball Don’t Lie! Excitement would be one word to describe the first half, as these two ABL juggernauts faced off for the first time this season.

Tremendous offense and defense from both teams caused multiple lead changes, but there was one key differentiator: Ball Don’t Lie outrebounded Goodfellas and had a 4-point lead at the half, 37-33. Leading scorer at the time for Ball Don’t Lie was Simon Smith with 10 points and for Goodfellas, Corey Edwards with 11 points.

The Second half was even more fun to watch, as the Goodfellas took their game to the next level. Great ball movement and fast break points led to a 12-point lead. But Ball Don’t Lie didn’t go away.... yet. Tightening up their defense, Simon Smith was able to keep them in the game, along with Russell Thompson’s hustle.

It wasn’t enough though, because Goodfellas started draining 3-pointers with under 5 minutes to go and ran away with the game. They hit a total of eleven 3-pointers and limited Ball Don’t Lie to only 17 points in the half. Thompson finished with 10 points, 6 assists, 3 steals and 5 rebounds and Smith added 19 points, 2 assists and 15 rebounds.

Goodfellas Anthony Green and Tymel Jackson stole the show. Anthony had 22 points in the second half alone, totaling 28 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 5 rebounds. Tymel Jackson finished with 15 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Goodfellas win it 67-54!
