Arsenal and Young Bucs have advanced to the championship round, but what about the rest of the league?

We’ve reported how Arsenal and Young Bucs advanced to the championship round in the Joe Carter and Kirby Puckett divisions respectively, but what about the rest of the games?  Here’s how they played out:

Arsenal wasn’t responsible for the only upset victory of the day.  BigBigWillie’s toppled the top seeded Adrenaline Rush in a two game sweep.  Here’s the kicker, they outscored their opponent by a whopping 57-22 runs.  BigBigWillie’s played them tough in the season finale, but a sweep by an average of 17.5 runs?  No one saw this coming!  Congratulations on the huge wins.  They will meet up with Arsenal for the Joe Carter Division Championship.  We are sure to see some fireworks out of that one!

The rest of the series saw the favorites proceed, but maybe not how we had expected.  Namely, Outlaws put up an incredible fight against arguably the best team in the league.  Bad Intentions may have expected a pushover, but Outlaws certainly had other plans.  In fact, they outscored the top team in the Cal Ripken Division 54-51.  Unfortunately for them, this was a result of the larger margin of victory in their single win.  Outlaws took game 1 by a score of 16-10.  However, Bad Intentions would rebound and hand their opponent a pair of heart-wrenching losses by scores of 18-16 in game 2 and 23-22 in game 3.  Wow.  This could be the start of an epic rivalry in seasons to come!

Bad Intentions will take on Tainos in the championship round of the Cal Ripken Division.  Tainos took down the #3 seed L.O.B.  L.O.B. gave it a valiant effort, taking game 2 by a score of 22-19, but Tainos proved to be too much.  Tainos holds the best offense in the league, and put it on full display last weekend.  They would score a ridiculous 70 runs over 3 games.  Bad Intentions better bring their A-game next Sunday if they hope to overcome that firepower and seize the championship crown.

To round out the semifinals, Bad Hombres took care of business against NJ Expos in a two game sweep.  NJ Expos did, however, give the team with the best run differential in the league more of a fight than anticipated.  Bad Hombres, on average, slugged their way to double digit margins of victory in the regular season.  NJ Expos wasn’t planning to go down without a fight.  They almost pulled out a game 1 upset, losing by just a single run, and plated 16 runs in game 2.  However, Bad Hombres would bring around 24 to complete the sweep.  Bad Hombres will meet with the red hot Young Bucs for the Kirby Puckett Division championship.

After a thrilling first round of the playoffs, we look forward to some excellent championship matchups.  Congratulations for some great seasons from those who got knocked out last weekend, and good luck to our remaining competitors!  It all comes down to this.  Our final six teams are battle-tested and ready to assert themselves at the top.  Let’s see who will come out victorious.  With every team firing on all cylinders, they are certain to put on a show!
