Double-dip in Garfield

GARFIELD, NJ -- It was the first time covering team Tainos since last year, and  I now remember why I enjoyed covering their games.  They are an exciting team to watch, power hitting, aggressive base running, just smart overall Softball.  To add a bonus, they all have nicknames (dont believe me, look on the website at their roster!).

The Outlaws presented a tough matchup for Tainos because they are extremely similar teams in terms of their talent.

Game 1 was a close one!  Tied 3-3 after the first inning, Tainos dropped 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd courtesy of Carmine, Money, Lolin & Eddy driving in some RBI's.  The Outlaws answered right back with 6 runs total in the 4th & 5th innings.  Stapleton had a 2 RBI single, followed by Shawn Ellerson's 2 Run Homer to give the Outlaws a 10-8 lead after 5.  The lead was extended to 11-8 after Ed's RBI single in the top of the 6th.

The Tainos monster was awoken & never looked back.  They scored 8 much needed runs in the bottom of the 6th!  #2 batter Sims had a clutch 3 RBI triple (again, see base running comment).  Carmine sealed it with a Solo Bomb to deep right!  Gee went 0-3 this game?  Dude, this is Garfield NJ, not Florida!  Ay Dios Mio!!!

Final Game 1:
Tainos 16
Outlaws 11

Game 2 wasn't even close.  Tainos continued where they left off from Game 1, scoring 13 runs in the first 2 innings.  Credit Lolin with a 2 Run Homer!  Tainos were certainly more patient at the plate drawing 6 total walks in the game (Lead off man drew 2 of those, which is smart, considering his job is to get on base!).

The Outlaws came firing back scoring 8 in the bottom of the 4th.  Hec has 2 RBIs, Joe had 1, Jerry had 2 & & Andre added 2 as well!

Then, the route happened!  A 15 Run 6th inning by Tainos closed this game out!  Everyone was hitting!  What better way to finish a game then Gee redeeming himself when he tattooed a 3 Run Homer to deep right center!

The Outlaws are a good team, but Tainos are better right now!

Final Game 2:
Tainos: 32
Outlaws 14
