HOBOKEN, NJ -- Back in 2016, when Pier 13 was just a fledgling rookie squad, they struggled mightily, finishing with a 2-5 record in the ABL Summer Hoboken Coed Season.
But now it's 2017, and the Pirates of Pier 13 are no laughing matter. They've gotten solid contributions this season from Blake Remer (.846 Avg., 8 Runs, 1 HR) and Dave Amour (.583 Avg., 3 Doubles, 1 Triple) and find themselves sitting all alone in 2nd place.
This past Sunday, the Pirates (3-2) had yet another strong outing, matching up against league veteran and perennial playoff contender Hoboken Softball Club.
Starting Pitcher Blake had his best game of the season. At the mound, he only let up 5 hits resulting in 2 runs. Add 3 K's to that & he deserved a mention. He also went 3 for 3 at the plate, a triple short of batting for the cycle. He led the team with 2 runs scored & tied for the lead in RBI with 2(Liz had 2 RBI's as well).
Randy was really the only player for Hoboken Softball Club who had a strong showing at the plate, going 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored & solo bomb in the top of the 7th.
Jen B. & Anthony were batting in the 3rd & 4th spot, but only went a combined 1 for 6. Not good enough:(.
Final Score:
Pier 13 - 6
Hoboken Softball Club - 2
