PALISADES PARK, NJ -- The EC Hawks came into the Diamond Cup Tournament as underdogs to both the Legion of Boom & the North Bergen Dawgs. That didn't stop them from bringing probably their best 2 game series of the year!
They matched up against the Legion of Boom first. They were down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the 2nd. That's when, they unleashed hell! 4 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd, 4 in the 4th, a solid 7 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th & finished with a single run in the bottom of the 8th! They shut out L.O.B. 4 straight innings, kudos to Percy the pitcher!

The North Bergen Dawgs walked into a decent hand here. They are catching the EC Hawks playing 1 1/2 hours of ball for 8 innings. They could be tired? The Dawgs got their wish & won the coin toss to choose home or away. Would you believe it, they chose to let the EC Hawk continue their hot streak of bats by choosing "Home". It was all over right there!
EC Hawks came out strong, scoring 4 in the first & an inning high "9" in the 2nd. The North Bergen Dawgs are known for starting out slow, coming alive in the 3rd or 4th inning. It just wasn't the case today. They of course were shut out in the 1st inning. Scored 1 in the 2nd, 3rd & 4th. That is simply not enough when you are letting up 20 runs through 4 innings. They didn't stand a chance! The EC Hawks swing at everything & had 17 extra base hits in the final! This was a runaway!

Congratulations to the EC Hawks for pulling off an incredible upset win in the "C" Level Diamond Cup tournament. They defeated 2 very tough division champions. The Hawks will receive their Diamond Cup Trophy at the Awards Party in January - stay tuned for details!

Our Fall Season opening day is August 20th, and teams have to be registered w/ deposit by August 13th to get on the schedule. So far we have a lot of teams signed up, this is gearing up to be the best fall season in ABL's history! Lots of competition ready to go. Can't wait!
