MEN'S PLAYOFFS -- Good Wood demonstrated why they are advancing to the Playoffs by not letting their foot off the gas, scoring a combined 38 runs in the Double Header VS. Here Come the Runs.
Good Wood put away a team they easily should have & that is what good teams do!
Game 1 was all Good Wood. Pitcher Andrew only let up 2 runs in 4 innings. Everyone scored at least 1 run for Good Wood except for the Pitcher Andrew. Kevin went 3 for 3 with 2 singles & a triple (2 RBIs). Bobby batting clean up had 3 RBI's lead the Good Wood. Mike, Mike L & John added 2 RBIs each. Good Wood is known for their savvy base running & extended hits (6 extra base hits). John, Paul, Chris & Dennis each had 2 runs.
Here Come the Runs were flat in Game 1. 6 total hits, Mugsy, Damien & Terry had either a double or triple. Speaking of Terry, he had 3 line drive catches at 3rd base ( 2 of them really nice stabs!).
Final Game 1:
Good Wood - 14
Here Come the Runs - 2
Game 2 was a bit more interesting. Here Come the Runs were able to score a dozen runs, but ran into line up problems when they batted out of order & the Good Wood Manager/Score Keeper caught it, notified the umpire & it bit Here Come the Runs! John had 2 triples with a team high 6 RBI's for Here Come the Runs.
Good Wood had their eye on the ball, took pitches from new hurler Damien, resulting in "16" walks! Mike L. led the team with 4 runs (5 walks). Mike, batting 3rd had 5 RBIs leading the team. Good Wood is a team to watch out for. Very alert in the field, & they take risks running the bags (which for the most part, pays off!!
Final Game 2:
Good Wood - 24
Here Comes the Runs - 12
Good Wood (17-3) advances to the championship game and will take on their arch-nemesis, the EC Hawks (10-10) who dismantled the NJ Expos 17-0, 15-2 in their playoff round.
