HOBOKEN, NJ -- Last night, the Schreib Tribe played a rare double-header and came away victorious, sweeping McSwiggans by scores of 2-1 and 6-0. Much of the credit can be given to pitcher J. Gurtman, who lowered his league-leading E.R.A to 0.29.
Gurtman also helped his team offensively, going 3 for 4 and scoring the only 2 runs in their 10-inning, 2-1 victory.
With the 2 wins, the Schreib Tribe (4-1) moves into a tie for 1st place. They are 3-0 in the games Gurtman has pitched, and he has yet to walk a batter.
If the Tribe wants to make it back to the Championship, they'll need Gurtman to continue his pitching excellence. Let's see if he holds up to the pressure of the Playoffs.
