Thundercats 4.0 steadily improved every season and their hard work finally paid off.

Just a few years ago, Thundercats 4.0, came into our league and struggled mightily.  They certainly took their lumps.  However, season to season, they would make steady improvements.  With hard work and determination, they would persevere.  Coming off of a good season, Thundercats 4.0 came into this one with high expectations.  Every team hopes to end the season with tha final victory, but only one can.  That team was Thundercats 4.0.

Thundercats 4.0’s championship season was propelled but team captain Darren Apostolik, who posted the 6th best WHIP and ERA among qualifying pitchers, and Rich Lynn, who tied for 3rd in Homeruns.  Their final opponent was Hoboken Softball Club, who also put together an impressive season but fell just short of their goal.

Jason Cieri did all he could to give Hoboken Softball Club a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Thundercats 4.0, as Hoboken Softball Club lost 7-4 at Mama Johnson Field on Sunday.

Cieri racked up three RBIs on three hits for Hoboken Softball Club. He singled in the first, seventh, and ninth innings.

Darren Apostolik got it done in the circle on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over nine innings. Apostolik struck out one, walked six and gave up nine hits.

Thundercats 4.0 was sparked by Eric Smith and Colin Mckay, who teamed up for seven hits and five RBIs.

Julia Joyce ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed seven runs in nine innings, walked one and struck out two.

The bottom of the first saw Hoboken Softball Club take an early lead, 2-0. Ken Stubbs singled to ignite Hoboken Softball Club's offense. Cieri singled, bringing home Baraka Stubbs and Jen Bell.

Thundercats 4.0 put up one run in each of the second, third and fourth. In the second, Thundercats 4.0 scored on a sacrifice fly by Mckay, plating Rich Lynn.

Thundercats 4.0 never surrendered the lead after the fourth inning, scoring one run on a solo home run by Mckay.

Thundercats 4.0 pushed across two runs in both the seventh inning and the ninth. In the seventh, Thundercats 4.0 scored on a two-run double by Lauren Mains, scoring Meghan Greene and Frank Johnson.

A two-run ninth inning helped bring Hoboken Softball Club within three. A walk by Anthony Caba and an RBI single by Cieri fueled Hoboken Softball Club's comeback. However, it would not be enough.  Thundercats 4.0 shut the door on their opponent after that and earned the win and the championship.

Congratulations to both teams on excellent seasons and a hard fought game.  We’d like to extend an extra congratulations to the 2016 Summer Co-Ed Division C Champion Thundercats 4.0.  Their thrilling, comeback victory was fitting for their grit, determination, and a stellar season.
