Defense prevails as No Fat Chix steals the crown in epic fashion

HOBOKEN, NJ -- This past Sunday featured the much anticipated Reggie White Divisional Championship matchup between the two best teams in our league, as No Fat Chix took on the defending champion Scrape City.

No Fat Chix was looking for redemption, after an earlier than expected exit last season, by toppling the current kings of the gridiron.  However, Scrape City had no plans to relinquish their title.

Scrape City lead the league in points scored by a large margin and posted a division-low points surrendered, culminating in a videogame-like 181 point differential.  Once again, their players stacked the leaderboards.  Not to be outdone, No Fat Chix placed at least one player in the top 5 of several key of stat categories.  Ryan Sheridan was 3rd in the league with 130 completions and tied for 4th with 30 touchdown passes.  Corey Hutchinson and Ray Sheridan placed 2nd (39) and 3rd (38) respectively in receptions, with Ray Sheridan tying for 2nd in touchdown receptions at 12.  Corey Hutchinson and Tim Sheridan were also among a 2nd place tie with 5 interceptions on the season.  This was no ordinary challenger to the crown.  Undaunted, No Fat Chix took on Scrape City in what would turn out to be an epic battle.

As expected when two heavyweights collide, this was a close one throughout.  Ryan Sheridan led the way with an impressive 77.4 completion percentage and 118.7 quarterback rating to accompany his 4 touchdown passes.  Corey Hutchinson led the game with 8 receptions, adding 1 touchdown catch.  Malik Mouzone would match those 4 touchdown passes for Scrape City, a game high 3 of which landing in the hands of Derrick Stroble Jr.

With the offenses trading blows, the game would be decided on the defensive side of the ball.  While Scrape City has been used to their defense stealing the show, it was No Fat Chix who would prevail in this area.  In addition to leading the offense, Ryan Sheridan and Corey Hutchinson also contributed on defense, accounting for 2 of their team’s 3 interceptions.  No Fat Chix squeaked out a 13-12 lead in the first half and would hold serve in the second half.  The result?  A thrilling 25-24 championship victory for No Fat Chix.

Congratulations to the new Spring League Champions No Fat Chix on a great, hard fought season.  Their victory was well-deserved.  Congratulations also to runner-up Scrape City for yet another great season.  We are sure you will come back even stronger and hungrier next season.  We’d also like to thank and congratulate the rest of our Reggie White Division: Bonnet Shore Legends, Show Me the TD’s, Mud Dogs, and Debits & Credits.  We appreciate your efforts and hard work that make our league so great.  We look forward to seeing you all again next season!  Only one questions remains....Who will be crowned next?
