The Heavier the Puck, the Harder the Fall

Believe it or not, even though these heavyweight opponents are two of the most senior shufflepuck teams on the circuit, they have only faced each other twice in the regular season and once in the playoffs.
In those meetings, the EarthQUATES have the overall head-to-head edge with a record of 5-4, however Cool Hand Luke has the advantage where it matters most, having beaten the EarthQUATES in the playoffs last year in a best of 5 thriller on their way to their first ever Lord Shufflepuck trophy.
We were able to catch up with Jeremy, the captain of the EarthQUATES and here is what he had to say about the upcoming battle. "They are a good sneaky bunch. Just when you think you have them right where you want them, they throw you a curveball. We know it is going to be a battle tonight. March Madness? Yeah I heard that term when people were talking about college basketball. But apparently they have never seen this game. THIS is March Madness."

We asked Jeremy what he had to do to beat Cool Hand Luke: "One Puck at a time," he said with a smile. "If you are thinking about what shot you are going to do next, you may as well start thinking about next game, because you just gave this one away."

Cool Hand Luke agrees. Jason of Cool Hand remarked, "..the biggest obstacle is getting past those initial nerves....the slightest twitch or shakiness will send that puck off course. Whichever team is able to play loose, to get into the zone, and keep that focus will be the winner."

Tim added, "[The] Biggest obstacle is setting the tone for the night. Taking time to get loosened up enough to play well is a problem sometimes and cannot be the case in the postseason."

It will most likely be Tim VS Jeremy on the far end with Lisa and Zach at the near end of the board. The EarthQUATES battled with The Mighty Pucks and were able to sweep (but not easily) last week. Will the week of rest benefit or hurt Cool Hand Luke? This remains to be seen. The EarthQUATES are hoping to build on their success last week.
