SUNDAY, August 24---the longest winning streak in ABL history continues after Louise & Jerry’s defeated Schreib Tribe by the score of 12 to 2 at Mama Johnson Field. The team is still undefeated in the year 2014, and their record breaking winning streak currently stands at 15 games.
L & J 3rd baseman John Rivera put on a defensive clinic with his gold glove performance against the Tribe on Sunday. John not only makes web gem plays look routine, he made a great one handed grab off a slow rolling ground ball to get the runner out at 1st base. Also, in the 5th inning Schreib Tribe had runners on 1st and 2nd base with one out. A hard hit ground ball was hit towards 3rd base and John grabbed the ball to get the force at 3rd and made a difficult throw to 1st base. The ball took a hard bounce but 1st baseman Kristine Cheeka scooped it up to finish the inning ending double play.
Stephanie Soares got the offense started for Louise & Jerry’s by going 3 for 4 with an RBI. She set the stage for the offensive firework show of Chris Lyons, Jude Bracken, and Angel Romano. They demonstrated the team’s raw power by hitting a combined 3 homeruns and knocking in 9 of the 12 runs scored.
