Psych Ward overcrowded with wins

SUNDAY, August 17---The match up between ‘Merica and Psych Ward could be a potential playoff preview of what is to come in the Hoboken West Division.  Both teams grinded it out in 8 strong innings of gameplay, where dominate defenses and clutch hitting made the game between the two, a must watch.

‘Merica was up 2 to 1 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning.  Psych Ward had runners on 2nd and 3rd base with no outs. Britany Godsell is one of the toughest players ABL has to offer as she survived two collisions with runners playing 1st base in the game.  Britany was now ready to inflict some pain of her own on the scoreboard as she stepped up to the plate.  Britany came through with a clutch RBI to tie the game up 2 to 2.  The following batter needs to be in a strait jacket due to his offensive aggression.  Greg Fuchs’ RBI single made Psych Ward take a 3 to 2 lead.

Psych Ward’s left fielder Gary Baker and 3rd baseman Ward Sandler did a phenomenal job with their gloves to keep the game close.  Gary made two difficult catches at the warning track that prevented the game from slipping away.  Ward Sandler his having a career season offensively and defensively.  He has really elevated his game to become one of the best all round players in the league.

The game was heading into extra innings due to the game getting tied up 3 to 3 from ‘Merica’s Matthew Cunningham’s RBI single in the top of the 7th.  It was bottom of the 8th inning and Amy Grochala made a great heads up play running the bases to get to 3rd base for Psych Ward.  With the bases now loaded, Justin Bencsko delivered with a game winning RBI single.  Psych Ward defeated ‘Merica in 8 innings of play, 4 to 3, to improve to 5 and 0 on the season.
