The Best of the Best are About to Collide in Warinanco Park

HOBOKEN, August 11 - Teams are dropping like flies in the Union County Co-Ed League Playoffs, and now the elite stand as giants among men in the late rounds.

Tomorrow's round of games starting at 6:30 PM in Warinanco Park will pit Garwood Rest against the A-Team, and Nugents against Hi Haterz

While Garwood Rest held strong for most of the season atop the standings they are not deemed the team to beat in this elimination playoff.

That honorable distinction belongs to the A-Team. The A-Team, Garwood Rest and Hi Haterz all finished the regular season with sterling 12-1 records, but he A-Team scored more runs than any other team in the league with 244.

All three of the 12-1 teams also finished the season with under 100 runs scored against them. As for the 9-4 Nugents, they also scored quite a bit with 184 runs, but they let up 134 runs. That is good for fourth in the league in defense, but they sit behind the before mentioned 12-1 teams in that category.

All these factors stack up to Nugents being the dark horse for a playoff victory tomorrow night, but anything is possible in this little game called softball. A bounce here, a dropped ball there a gust of wind that lets the ball travel that extra foot over the center fielder's head...

Anything can happen.
