HOBOKEN, July 13 - Farkle took on NY Ragers on Sunday night, looking for a good start to their season.

NY Ragers had one game previously, and was looking to bounce back from a tough loss.  Both teams played well, and there was certainly no shortage of bats.  The two teams would combine for 37 runs on 43 hits (57 base runners).  They put on an exciting show that featured 5 lead changes, 4 homeruns (2 grand slams), and, despite the high offensive output, strong defensive play.

The two teams swapped leads throughout the first three innings of play.  NY Ragers took a 1 run lead in the top of the first, but that would not last any longer.  Farkle scored 2 in the bottom of the inning to steal the lead right back.  The teams traded 4-run innings in the 2nd and 3rd, and Farkle held a 6-5 lead heading into the 4th inning of play.  It looked like NY Ragers were going to get there wish and run away with this game over the next inning and a half, scoring an impressive 13 runs.  In both innings, 6 of their first 7 batters would reach base safely.  They took full advantage of the free base runners via the walk, and their 8 run 5th inning featured a grand slam.

Farkle would not go down without a fight, though.  They started their furious comeback with a 7 run bottom of the 5th that was capped off by a 2 out grand slam. They would feed off of this swing in momentum to steal the win.  Farkle shut out NY Ragers the rest of the way and scored 6 more runs over those final two innings, winning the game on a 2 out, RBI single.

Farkle started the season off right with a big win in exciting fashion, erasing a 12 run deficit in the final two and a half innings of play.  Both teams played very well defensively, but the offenses certainly stole the show.  Farkle came through in several clutch situations and took the win right from NY Ragers’ grasp.  They will look to feed off of the big win when they take on ‘Merica this coming Sunday.

NY Ragers took a tough loss, but showed that they have more than enough ability to right the ship.  They will look to regroup with the bye week and come back strong against Roosevelts.

Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought, exciting game of softball and good luck with the rest of your seasons.
