Ryan Wirth Leads Nomad Warriors to Victory over Hit & Run

HOBOKEN, June 22 - The ABL Summer Season of Flag Football opened up at JFK Stadium in Hobken Sunday afternoon, and the Nomad Warriors, a team of free agents, met for the first time and won for the first time.

Hit & Run came out looking polished and ready to run the gauntlet as quarterback Albert Medina launched a pass from mid-field to receiver Joaquin Mendez for long toucdown.

Medina hit Mendez in the second half for another long touchdown but that would be the only scoring for Hit & Run in the contest.

Ryan Wirth of Nomad Warriors looked a little shaky to start the game as he threw a costly interception to Hit 'n Run's Jay Donado in the early-goings, but as the game went on the Nomad Warriors would start to gel and Wirth began to shine.

Wirth's finally line was an impressive 17 for 28 with four touchdowns and one interception. He spread the ball around to his wide-outs as Mo Elbouazizi hauled in six passes and a score, Chris Myers had four receptions and three scores, and Bryan Vincent snagged five catches.

The first half finished with a tight 13 - 7 score in favor of Nomad Warriors, but once Wirth and his pass catchers got on the same page the Warriors ran like a well oiled machine and took control of the game for a solid opening day victory.

The Nomad Warriors will be on a bye next Sunday (unless a 6th team joins the division) while Scrape City will play their first game against Dirty Du and the Boyz and the Other Guys will test their metal against Hit & Run.
