An Infestation of Insects Swarm the Field

Monday, May 18---The odds were stacked against the Insects going into their game against the Pourhouse Sliders.  They were down a few key players, where the team would be taking an automatic in the batting line up, as well as only being able to play with 9 fielders in the field.  On top of all that, they were facing one of the best teams in ABL.  Like always, whenever a disaster strikes, no matter how devastating it is, the Insects will prevail.

The immense outfield at JFK stadium is hard enough to cover when there is a full team playing on it.  It leaves no margin for error, making any type of slip up extremely costly.  Outfielders  DJ Betancourt, Mike Swisher, and Phil Danzinger/Joe Torre (rotating in and out) did a remarkable job covering this vast stretch of field.

The outfield can’t take all the credit because the infield did just as good a job.  One of the best shortstops in the game, Ryan Arcadia made his pitching debut earning himself his first W.  With the shortstop position vacant, team Captain Joe Torre didn’t have to look too far.  Gus Guida stepped up and filled the role perfectly as well as Teddy Link, Dana Pasini, Amanda McKinley, and Marc Cardillo who were flawless with their gloves in the diamond.

In the 3rd and 4th innings is where the Insects did their damage on the scoreboard.  Amanda McKinley went 1 for 2, with a RBI, run, and walk.  Amanda’s 0.6667 on base percentage got the offense rolling, which led to homeruns by Ryan Arcadia and Gus Guida.  The Insects defeated the Pourhouse Sliders 7 to 4, making the head to head match up at one apiece.

Teams better get repellant because this swarm of Insects is ready to attack.
