Thunder Bunnies hitting their stride

HOBOKEN — There was late inning drama this past Monday between the Belly Busters and Thunder Bunnies

In the top of the 7th inning, the Thunder Bunnies had a 10 to 7 lead and were looking to close out the game, but a costly error in the field almost gave them the loss. The Belly Busters had runners on 1st and 2nd base with 1 out. Belly Buster Samantha Santola and Pat Romano both hit RBI singles to get within one.  The momentum was on the Belly Busters’ side only to be stopped by the glove of Thunder Bunny Brian Alfson, who made a sick grab off a line drive that looked to be over his head.  The Thunder Bunnies held on to win it, 10 to 9.

When the Thunder Bunnies needed to make a big play, the veteran team came through.  The game could have gotten out of reach by the offense of Belly Buster Stephanie Serrao and PJ Olobardi.  They went a combined 6 for 8 in the game.  PJ was looking to go 4 for 4 but the Thunder Bunnies’ shortstop Alfson got them out of a jam with an unassisted double play.  Brian had two unassisted double plays on the game that helped keep his team in it.

In the Bunnies’ last game, their offense was on fire.  This trend continued during Monday night’s game scoring again in double digits.  Thunder Bunny Natalie Dubanowitz is currently leading the team with a .625 batting average.  Her success of getting on base helped raise Craig Antoniello’s RBI total.  Craig had a clutch 2 run double, and finished the game with 3 RBIs.  His teammates Chris Weiss and Jennifer Isler came through when the team needed them.  Chris was automatic when it came to getting on base and Jennifer’s RBI helped saved her team from defeat.

In the ABL, slow and steady doesn’t win the race.  It’s a sprint where the Thunder Bunny looks to come out on top.
