All hands on deck this upcoming weekend at Mama Johnson Field in Hoboken, NJ. In both divisions the last and final playoff spot is still to be determined along with the #1 seed in the Carlton Fisk Division. There are many different scenarios which would lead to many different outcomes. Lets break down the many possibilities.
ABL will first begin its focus on the #1 seed in the Carlton Fisk Division between the Angry Leprechauns and the Insects. The Angry Leprechauns currently hold the top spot with a 5 and 1 record but still have two games left to play where they will be facing Turtle Club & Biggie’s. Last Sunday, the Insects beat the Angry Leprechauns and have the head to head tie breaker against them along with 1 game remaining on their schedule.
Here are the scenarios for Angry Leprechauns and Insects:
Scenario #1: If the Angry Leps go 2 and 0 they lock up the #1 seed with a 7 and 1 record even if the Insects win their final game.
Scenario #2: If the Angry Leps go 1 and 1 and Insects win, they are the #2 seed and Insects will be the #1 seed. This is because both teams will have a 6 and 2 record and Insects have the head to head tie breaker.
Scenario #3: If the Angry Leps go 0 and 2, and Insects lose, Insects get the #1 seed because they will have the same 5 and 3 record with Insects having the tie breaker.
Carlton Fisk Division: 4th and final playoff spot
The Thunder Bunnies currently hold the 4th and final playoff spot in the Carlton Fisk Division with a 3 and 4 record, and 1 game remaining on their schedule. Freddy Melendez’s Turtle Club is trailing them for the final playoff spot with 2 games left on their schedule.
Scenario #1: If the Thunder Bunnies win they will have a 4 and 4 record and Turtle Club will have to win both their games this weekend to have any chance. Since both teams split their head to head match ups, their tie breaker will come down to runs for/runs against.
Scenario #2: If Thunder Bunnies lose, they will have a 3 and 5 record, and if Turtle Club goes 1 and 1 on their double header then it is the same scenario coming down to runs scored/runs against.
Scenario #3: If Thunder Bunnies lose and Turtle Club goes 2 and 0, then Turtle Club is the 4th seed.
Turtle Club’s double header has huge significance on the outcome for both the #1 and 4th playoff spots.
The 4th and final playoff spot in the George Brett Division is between the Pourhouse Sliders and Tilted Kilt. The Pourhouse Sliders currently hold the final playoff spot with a 3 and 4 record and both teams have 1 game remaining on their schedule. Both teams’ final game is against Louise & Jerry's Hit Squad this weekend.
Scenario #1: If Pourhouse wins they automatically clinch a playoff berth regardless if Tilted Kilt wins.
Scenario #2: If Pourhouse loses and Tilted Kilt wins, they both will have a 3 and 5 record. They split their head to head match ups during the course of the season. Their tie breaker will be determined by runs scored/runs against.
Scenario #3: If Pourhouse loses and Tilted Kilt loses, then Pourhouse makes the playoffs.
Louise & Jerry’s can decide the fate of two teams this weekend. Adding fuel to an already heated up rivalry between L & J and Tilted Kilt, this Sunday’s outcome will make an already great match up that much better. Good Luck to all!
