Jaime Hornberger & Sean Pardue combined 4 HR in win

SUNDAY, October 13, 2013—the Pourhouse Sliders had a slow start, going 0 and 2 to begin their fall softball season.  The choppy waters turned into smooth sailing because the Sliders are currently on a 3-game winning streak.  They recently defeated the 10th & Willow Slingers 16 to 8 at Mama Johnson Field in Hoboken, NJ.

The Pourhouse Sliders lead the league with 12 homeruns and Jaime Hornberger & Sean Pardue demonstrated why they are the league leaders on Sunday.  Jaime’s first homerun was a 3 run shot in the 2nd inning followed by an inside the park grand slam in the 3rd inning.  He finished the night with 7 RBIs.  His teammate Sean hit a pair of lead off homeruns in the game to get the rally started.  Sean leads the league with 6 homeruns and is 12 for 15 batting .800 on the season.

In addition to the team’s power, the Sliders stepped up their defense their last 3 games, keeping their opponents to single digit runs compared to their first 2 games when they let up a combined 30 runs. During their winning streak CY Young candidate Marissa Capuano returned to the mound and she has dominated keeping batters guessing.  Also when Rich Davis isn’t talking sports at 6 to 630 weeknights on channel SNY (check it out) he is proving with his glove that he should be the topic of conversation instead of AROD.

After Sunday night’s win, the Pourhouse Sliders are securing their lead for a playoff spot in a very competitive division where winning doesn’t come easy.  ABL might be seeing a first round playoff preview Monday night, when the Sliders take on the 1st place 5 and 0 McSwiggans Pub.
