MONDAY, September 30—Mission 50 comp.  moved up a division heading into the fall softball season and had held their own with a 2 and 1 record leading up to last Monday's game. Mission 50 would see where they'd stand when they took on the undefeated Louise & Jerry’s at Mama Johnson field.

Louise & Jerry’s is one of the better teams in the League, and were the Trout Division Champs in the spring.   They have an arsenal of offense combined with great defense making them very hard to defeat.  Mission 50 proved on Monday night that they aren’t going anywhere by defeating Louise & Jerry’s 8 to 6 in a well-played ballgame.

Mission 50 knew the stakes at hand and set the tone in the beginning of the game.  They were down 1 early on, thanks to a solo homerun blast from Angel Romano but it didn’t matter because they came out swinging.  Mission 50's Greg Bottitta, Kaitlin Foley, and Dan Koo put together a nice series of hits to get on base for Kelvin Cabrera.  Kelvin hit a 3 run homerun to give his team a 4 to 1 lead.  Kelvin had a great night offensively going 1 for 2 with a HR, BB, and 5 RBI.

Mission 50 wasn’t just one dimensional on Monday night.  They played great defense to help keep their lead.  The past few games outfielders Mike Jamgotchian, Adam Schreiber and 2B baseman Lauren Canonico have been great in the field making play after play.  They have really stepped up their defense when needed.

Louise & Jerry’s started chipping away at the lead scoring in the first 5 innings of the game but Leah Minick helped keep her team in the lead with a big RBI in the 5th inning.

Mission 50 played great on Monday defeating Louise & Jerry’s 8 to 6.  They are 3 and 1 on the season and 1 game back from the division lead. With lots of softball left to play this fall the playing field is wide open.
