Offensive surge unstoppable

MONDAY, September 23—In the past two games, softball squad Biggie’s has displayed an impressive array of offense at Mama Johnson field.   They have outscored their opponents during their two game winning streak 31 to 7, and are 2nd in the league with 33 overall runs.  Team Captains George Dabal and Mike Mitchel have put a great overall squad together to compete in the in the Carlton Fisk Division.

Biggie’s first baseman Baraka Stubbs is a beast on the base paths.  The leadoff hitter has a duel threat combining speed and power.  Baraka is 7 for 8, with 2 HR, 5 runs, and 2nd in the league with hits batting .875.   Teammate Jesse Adler is also making a name for himself.  He is currently 6 for 8 and tied 3rd in the league with 6 RBIs.

Defensively, Biggie’s shortstop Andrea ruins opponents’ batting averages with both her glove and arm.  Anything hit in her vicinity is an automatic out if the batter makes contact, because the ace on the mound Julia Joyce is like Nolan Ryan retiring batters.  Julia has an ERA of 3.00 and is holding opponents at an anemic .316 batting avg.

Biggie’s next week’s opponent will be a BIG test because they are facing the undefeated Thunder Bunnies.  The Thunder Bunnies are a veteran team who is no stranger when it comes to winning.  It will be must-see TV.
