Big Games Scheduled for Monday

MAMA JOHNSON FIELD, HOBOKEN, NJ -- Fans are in for a real treat Monday night as playoff action continues in the Hoboken Coed Summer League.  Two big games are scheduled for the evening that are sure to be entertaining.  Let's take a look at the games on tap.

#1 Mission 50 vs. #4 Green Rock

Location: Mama Johson Field

Day/Time: Monday, Aug. 19th at 7PM

What a way to spend a Monday evening.  Mission 50 is the top dog in the division, and ladies and gentleman, these men and women can play ball. During the season they cranked out 79 hits and had a .407 collective batting average.  With 54 RBI on the season, they sure know how to bring the offense.  Look for their bats to lead them during this one.  Green Rock isn't a team to be taken lightly.  They've showed throughout the season that they can bring the power when necessary.  They belted 11 home runs in the regular season, and for them to get past the top seed in the tournament, they'll need to rely on their power.

Player to Watch: Jason Gurtman showed this season that like Mo Vaughn, he can also be referred to as the "Hit Dog".  He piled up 11 hits and drove in 9 runs on the season, so look for him to lead the offense.

#1 McSwiggan's Pub vs. #4 McMahon's

Location: Mama Johnson Field

Time: Monday, Aug. 19 at 8:15

The late game of the night will definitely be worth staying for and watching. McSwiggan's Pub earned the top seed because they've had one heck of a season.  With 56 hits and a .364 collective average they've showed the league they have the offense.  One of their more impressive stats is their 13 walks. Their patience at the plate is their key to this game.  McMahon's has also had an impressive season, and has showed the league they are determined to make an impact in the playoffs.  They also have showed they can be patient at the plate with 13 walks, and have a ton of great bats, compiling 80 hits on the season.  For them to pull off the upset, they will need all the bats they can get.

Player to Watch: With 14 hits and 1 homer on the season, Derek Davis can make a serious impact on this game in the offensive category.
