Curious play calling keeps the door open late, but the TD's in Your Face defense shuts the door on a crazy comeback attempt.

Hoboken, NJ – Wednesday night saw a late matchup with TD’s in Your Face, returning for their second season, facing off with perennial championship contenders BaderAde & Vodka.  TD’s in Your Face is looking to establish themselves into that type of status in our league, and that was evident in this game.  They took it to Baderade & Vodka early and often, jumping out to a commanding 12-0 lead going into the break on the back of a big first half from quarterback Mike Mule.  He would throw for two touchdowns and had a big interception to help hold their opponent scoreless.  On the receiving ends of those touchdowns were Jake Krantz and Brett Baker.

Both defenses played well in the second half, but things certainly got interesting late.  Franco Lebolo had a huge third down sack that would lead to a goalline stand against Baderade & Vodka, maintaining the shutout.  TD’s in Your Face also saw another score Mule.  This time, he was on the receiving end of a pass from Matt Kaplan.  However, BaderAde & Vodka would not go down without a fight.  They’d get on the board late and the game was seemingly out of hand, with their opponent getting the ball back and up by two scores with just two minutes to play.  However, some curious play calling left the door open.  Instead of working the clock, incompletes and out of bounds plays put the ball back in their BaderAde & Vodka’s hands with plenty of time to score, and they did just that.  A quick strike cut the lead to just one score at 19-13 with under 2 minutes to play and still holding their timeout.  TD’s in Your Face again had a chance to work the clock to victory, but did not do so.  They didn’t get the benefit of a defensive PI call up the sideline that would have (maybe) iced the game on third down and were forced to punt again.  BaderAde & Vodka still clung to life support.  They moved the ball into scoring position, but another stand deep in their own territory allowed TD’s in Your face to preserve the victory.  It was probably closer than and not as pretty as they had hoped, but a win is a win and TD’s in Your Face nailed down a big win to advance to 2-0.  The complete effort on both sides of the ball shows that this team is for real.
