Hoboken, NJ- Flag Football season is officially underway and Couple of Hunks did not hold back in their first game against First & Zinz.

Couple of Hunks played great offense and defense from start to finish,  along with some added physicality. This gave First & Zinz fits, as it was difficult for quarterback Felix Jiang to find open receivers. He only had a total of 5 incomplete passes in the first half though, despite the rocky start, and the team kept finding ways to keep it close.

While the troubles didn't show in their opponent's completion percentage, it did show in Couple of Hunks' pass rush.  Vince Gazzani recorded 2 safeties and 1 sac in the game while teammate Mike Platania added 1 sac in the first half. Kyle Berwick showed off his defensive prowess as well with an interception. Couple of Hunks quarterback Chris Westenhiser completed 5 passes in the first half, making the most of them with two passing touchdowns.  The touchdowns were hauled in by sac tandem Gazzani and Platania. If there was an area of concern though, it was the conversions. Couple of Hunks failed to convert on their extra points, leaving the door open for First & Zinz to stay in the game. This was aided by a Jiang to Anthony Nehlsen touchdown combination. Couple of Hunks still went into halftime with momentum and the lead at 12-7.

The second half was more competitive for Couple of Hunks. First & Zinz' Jiang added two more touchdowns to his stat-line, with Kyle Rawson and Brian Macellara on the receiving ends. Teammate Joey Falgares did his part as well, adding a Sack/Safety.

However, Couple of Hunks responded.

They settled back down and saw Westenhiser follow up a defensive interception of his own with another touchdown pass to Platania. Jiang and the First and Zinz offense struggled to connect on the deep ball and just couldn't catch up on the scoreboard. In the final minute, Couple of Hunks' Westenhiser made some head-scratching decisions, but the team was able to pulled off their first victory of the season by a score of 26-20.
