JC Tropics Band Together to end Losing Streak

JC Trop on the Hop

            Jersey City- After losing their last 3 games in a row, JC Tropics really needed a win on their record. Wolfpack won their last 2 and wanted to continue that streak. Offense started off slow for both teams, but JC Tropics picked up a rhythm a lot faster than Wolfpack and was also playing better defense. JC Tropics held a small lead but then there were multiple ties and lead changes. They led by as many as 8 points. Wolfpack was winning the rebound game while JC Tropics was racking up the assists. Toward the end of the half, both teams became more aggressive on defense and picked up the pace. JC Tropics displayed great team chemistry which, with their beautiful passing of the ball, led to a 26-20 advantage at halftime. Bruce Sobbres led JC Tropics with 11 points and Anthony Lawrence led Wolfpack with 8 points.

            In the second half, both teams picked up an aggressive and physical style of play. Wolfpack stepped up and cut the lead to just 1 after a 7-0 run, all scored by David Wiggins. JC Tropics went over 4 minutes without a made basket. They struggled to score but still held the lead. With 6:30 remaining, the score was tied and now it was anyone’s game. It was a battle for survival the last 5 minutes and Wolfpack grabbed a lot of offensive rebounds for second chance points. JC Tropics responded and led by 6 with 2 minutes left. They held on and was able to pull of the win 46-37. Wolfpack’s David Wiggins finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. JC Tropics Bruce Sobbres wrapped up the game with a double-double including 13 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assist and Brian Young added 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
