Tuesday Feb. 6, Jersey City, NJ – Every game counts, every point matters. In this divisional battle, The Smash Bros. took control of the game early on, setting the pace and taking Chubb off their game. Good ball movement and defense led to an 11-2 start, forcing Chubb to call a timeout and regroup early.

Chubb struggled offensively as the team’s leading scorer, Drew Leatherman, was not making any of his normal shots. Alessandro Trimerehi instead led the team with 8 points., while Leatherman contributed just 1 point going into halftime.

Smash Bros took advantage and led by as many as 15.  Newcomer Alex Cabrera only added to the team’s intensity. It was 29-18 at the half, with the Smash Bros leading, but Chubb wouldn’t be dismissed so soon.

The start of the second half saw a complete 180 from both teams. Smash Bros turned it down while Chubb turned it up.

Chubb went on a 7-0 run and Smash Bros suddenly found themselves out of rhythm and in need of a timeout. Drew started getting buckets, along with teammates Ali Salameh (9 points) and Alessandro and Chubb took the lead.

Aside from Alex Cabrera, no other Smash Bro could really find their shot as the team played catchup.

Chubb won 55-51.

Smash Bros Socrate Exama finished with 15 points, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 6 rebounds and Alex added 16 points, 1 assist, 1 steal and 9 rebounds.

Chubb’s Alessandro had a total 16 points, 2 assists, and 6 rebounds and Drew Leatherman added 15 points, 3 steals and 8 rebounds.
