Leading the Way

New stars have certainly shined this season; time to recognize them as we prepare for playoff football!

We are about to wrap up our 2017 fall regular season on Monday, and it’s time to highlight some our league’s top performers.

Quarterback: Ryan McGuirl (BaderAde & Vodka)

Ryan leads the league in Completions, Attempts, 2-pt Conversions, and is tied for the league lead in Touchdown Passes with Ryan Sheridan of No Fat Chix.  He’s also thrown a league low in interceptions (among qualifying quarterbacks).  He has completed just about 60% of his passes on the season and has posted an incredible 34:2 Touchdown-to-Interception Ratio.  McGuirl has lead his team into the playoffs and will face off with Sheridan and No Fat Chix, who just narrowly escaped with a win over BaderAde & Vodka this past week.

Receiving: Chase Larangera (The Trumps), Greg DiLorenzo (Kane is Able)

Chase is averaging 7.5 receptions per game, and he is not done yet.  He still has a game remaining to add to his totals, but he has safely secured his spot as the league receptions leader with 45, despite having only played in 6 games thus far.  He has also accounted for 4 of his team's receiving touchdowns to his season.

Greg has managed to snag an insane 15 touchdowns on the season, averaging nearly 2 per game.  His 43 receptions will likely keep him in a tie for second place in that category.  He has accounted for nearly 60% of his team’s touchdown production, and adds 2 2-pt conversions to his resume.

Both of our receiving leaders will display their talents in the playoffs, but await the final seeding results after The Trumps conclude their season on Monday.

Defense: Nick Camento (Chuck & Pray), Ashley Furman (Tenth & Willow Wolverines)

Nick has been a one man wrecking crew this season, racking up a whopping 10 sacks, 4 of which resulted in safeties.  All of this in just 6 games played for the season.  He even added an interception to his season statistics and made a number of plays in the passing game, proving his worth as a versatile, disruptive defender.  The sack title, however, remains in jeopardy.  Adam Rudin of The Flutie Boys will have the final say on Monday night, when his team plays their final regular season game. He is just 2 sacks shy the leader and has 3 games of 2+ sacks on his resume.

Ashley leads the league in interceptions with an impressive total of 6 in 6 games.  With his team winning by an average margin of victory of just 10 points, those changes of possession loom large and have proven invaluable.  Ashley’s contributions have certainly played a major role in his team’s success, securing the top seed in their division.  However, this lead too remains in danger.  Matt Larangera of The Trumps stands just 1 interception behind with his final game taking place on Monday.  He will have the opportunity to tie or take the lead in that game.

Congratulations to these top performers on excellent regular seasons.  Some still have a game remaining on Monday to improve on their numbers, but then it is time for the stars to really shine in the playoffs.  We look forward to seeing what these guys have in store for us!
