A Broccoli Comeback Falls Short...

HOBOKEN, NJ - The Flutie Boys scored 26 first-half points in last night's game vs. division rival Yer Motha's Broccoli, and that was all they'd need as they held on for a 26-22 win.

Down 26-8 at halftime, Yer Motha's Broccoli put forth a valiant comeback effort, scoring 14 unanswered points, but it just wasn't enough.

The Flutie Boys (5-2) brought the pain with wide receivers Adam Rudin (11 Rec, 1 TD), Josh Reinson (3 Rec, 2 TD's) and Nick Covucci (1 Rec, 1 TD). Quarterback Tait Pirkle was effective, completing 18 passes in 34 attempts and tossing 4 TD's, with 2 INT's.

Yer Motha's Broccoli (4-3) drops into a tie for 3rd place with the loss. They got some decent production from QB Mike Maroon (14 for 25, 3 TD's, 1 INT), who connected with 6 different receivers, most notably Tim Calloty (4 Rec, 2 TD's) and Ricky Simon (3 Rec, 1 TD).

Both teams will be jockeying for playoff position as we head towards the postseason, and nobody wants to face last year's champs, No Fat Chix, who sit in 1st place with a 6-1 record.
