Kane is Able showed up at JFK Stadium on Wednesday night seeking their first win, which they knew would be no easy task as they were matched up against the 2-1 Tenth and Willow Wolverines.
The game got off to the exact start Kane is Able had hoped for as gun slinging QB Jesse Shenker connected with Gus DiLorenzo on a long touchdown catch and run. Shenker then hit Bobby Plaza with a dart over the middle to convert the PAT and take an early 7-0 lead.
However, Tenth and Willow would fight back with 2 touchdowns of their own before the break. First, Eric Woodruff electrified Tenth and Willow with a long touchdown run highlighted by spin moves and jukes that you rarely even see in Madden. The score remained 7-6 until Tenth and Willow QB Isai Carrillo hooked up with wideout Ashley Furman on a touchdown toss. Tenth and Willow failed to convert on this PAT as well but marched into the locker room with a 12-7 lead.
Similar to the first half, Kane is Able came out of the gates hot in the second half. However, this time they didn’t take their foot off the gas. Shenker connected with his main target Gus DiLorenzo for not one, but two second half touchdowns. When it was all said and done the potent Shenker to DiLorenzo attack accounted for 3 touchdowns. Shenker had a big day under center going 17/24 with 4 total touchdowns, 3 through the air and the additional on a QB scamper.
Tenth and Willow added a late TD in the closing seconds to make the final score a respectable 28-25, however that was where any comeback effort would end. With the clock ticking down after the late TD all that was left was for Shenker to take a knee once getting the ball back.
